This course is designed to provide you with an understanding of pretrial risk assessment and risk mitigation strategies. It assumes that you are working, or will be working, with pretrial defendants; specifically, assessing the risks of defendants before their initial appearance in court where the judge makes a pretrial release decision, making recommendations to the judge regarding that decision, and supervising any conditions imposed by the judge.
