PREA Compliance and Responsibilities - Juvenile

The Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) became law on September 4, 2003. As part of PREA, the “National Standards to Prevent, Detect, and Respond to Prison Rape” were established by Federal Rule and became effective on August 20, 2012. The National Standards provide a framework for best correctional practices in the prevention of sexual abuse of inmates in confinement. This course is intended for persons employed in all types of juvenile detention facilities throughout the United States who have direct contact with residents in confinement. Much of this course can also apply to those working in other corrections facilities, although the standards cited are specific to the juvenile standards.
