Law enforcement, courts, probation, parole, and corrections all work to achieve public safety. Many of these agencies, including community corrections agencies, have entered into partnerships to achieve their goals. As agencies enter into new partnerships, or continue old partnerships, community corrections professionals should be cognizant of common obstacles to effective partnerships and be aware of the factors that make partnerships work.
This course is an introductory course on the characteristics of effective partnerships. The content of this course is useful for any community corrections professional who wants to enhance the partnerships they are developing or are engaged in. However, the course is written primarily to expose first line supervisors to the concepts of characteristics of effective partnerships given that many first line supervisors are responsible for exploring and participating in partnership activities for their agency.
